Christian Working Mom Interview January 2008
Welcome/Prayer Partners
CWM Coaching Tips
Blog/Online Bible Study

Hello everyone. I hope you are having a blessed 2008. If you are new to Christian Working Mom, welcome. I love how women all over the world are joining together to support one another. If you want to read previous issues of Pearls of Encouragement for CWMs or past CWM Interviews, you can find them here:

I continue to hear many women share how wonderful their prayer partners are and how they are sharing one another’s burdens. My heart is overflowing with joy in how we are reaching out to one another. I have one CWM wanting a prayer partner right now and I don’t have a match. So, if you want a prayer partner, send me an email to and put prayer partner in the subject heading. I want to be able to match everyone who requests a prayer partner.

Today Darcie has graciously accepted the invitation to be interviewed and share her thoughts. Thanks Darcie for taking time to share. Darcie is a married 42 year old CWM with two children, a son age 10 and a daughter age 6. Darcie is Director of Compliance for a national residential mortgage lending corporation.

Darcie’s greatest joy in being a CWM is being surrounded in her workplace with other CWMs (and some Christian women who are not yet moms!). These women bring a sense of sisterhood and support to the office, and we are always there for each other with just the right Scripture verse or reflection on a particular passage. I am also blessed with a challenging role within my organization that allows me to continually grow and learn.

Some of Darcie’s struggle as a CWM is feeling like I must bear the weight of responsibility for my family. Our household is largely depending on my income and employment, but I must always be mindful it is the Lord who provides for all our needs and He will never let us down!

Having enough time to devote the necessary attention to the children is also a struggle, as my evening hours are spent with juggling dinner, mail, bills, laundry, and the like with the children’s activities. I find it hard to spend time on my husband and on myself!

Darcie’s favorite Bible Verse is: And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ. Philippians 1:6.

God is teaching Darcie a valuable lesson right now. The housing and mortgage market is in one of the most severe downturns since the Great Depression, and my continued employment is uncertain and unlikely. Through this very difficult time, I have come to depend more and more on my faith in Jesus, to trust him for His provision for our needs – financial and other, and to be thankful for every circumstance. I have been drawn deeper into the Word daily for strength and encouragement.

Darcie shares the following words of encouragement for other Christian Working Moms: Being in the workforce can be a blessing, both to us and to others. We should look at our places of business as an opportunity to share the love of Jesus through our service to our employers and coworkers. We are in a mission field – even if we use only our conduct and work ethic as witnessing tools! What a privilege to serve our Lord in this way!

We also have a terrific opening each day to teach our children by our example of heading off to work without complaining and with an attitude of joy in our hearts!

Darcie we pray that your job will remain stable and thank you for reminding us that we need to trust in God to meet out needs not our jobs or ourselves.

Till next time,
