I live in South Carolina where we saw no snow last year. Right now I watching the snow come down and we could get anywhere from 3-10 inches of snow with some ice added in for good measure. This means that everyone has run to the grocery store to buy milk and bread. Not sure why those two things are most important, but the grocery shelves are now empty. Our whole state has shut down and probably will be for a few days. I have to admit I’m enjoying a time where we can all be home and slow down for a few days, as long as we do not lose power. Sometimes, it takes a weather event to make your priorities clear. So, welcome to our new CWM subscribers wherever you may live.

Article – Making Memories

The weather we are experiencing in South Carolina has received many names, but one of them is Snowmagedeon. You really would think it is the end of the world. Yet, some of my fondest memories with my children are during snow days. They would go outside make snowmen and snowwomen, ride our garbage top lids (we didn’t have a sled) down the hill in the back, and then come in for some hot chocolate.

A friend posted on Facebook that she was wishing for a short power outage because she wanted to camp in the living room with her children like she did as a child.

Making memories are important and most of the time the best memories don’t have to cost money. Just a few memories from our home: forts in the living room, obstacle courses inside and outside, treasure hunts, making cookies, and playing in the leaves. When you look back over your childhood what are some of your best memories?

I’m afraid with this digital age we have forgotten how to have fun playing board games, making your own games, or just spending time together. I wish I had been even more purposeful about making fun memories for my children.

I encourage you today to find an inexpensive way to make memories with your children today. Anybody up for making some snow ice cream?

Final Thoughts

Our children really like it when we make a fool out of ourselves. Sometimes the crazier we are the funnier it is to them even though they are feigning embarrassment. Every mother should try to embarrass their children at least once. It is one of the joys of being a Mom.

Till next time,
